My Journey Through Building a House in Perth – Part 1

Part 1: Pre-Construction

Saving Each Penny!

Our very own Marketing Queen Kirsty Isaacs couldn’t pass up the opportunity to build her first home after the announcement of the unmissable Government Stimulus (who wouldn’t want up to $55,000).

At the age of 25, Kirsty thought ‘Instead of indulging in an avo smash each weekend and limiting my G&T intake, I could save enough to build a house’, She was right! Limiting her luxury spending and saving her precious pennies has paid off as she begins her first home building journey with Commodore Homes.

As a first home builder, Kirsty has had plenty of guidance along the way from Commodore Sales Manager/Home Building Extraordinaire Ashley Barlow. The team at Commodore Homes has gone over and above to secure land for Kirsty in her dream location, Piara Waters Maddox Estate, dreams do come true!

It was important for Kirsty to be in an established estate, so after much deliberation, Kirsty decided on a house and land package in Piara Waters, a growing suburb that offers plenty of local amenities. His location was important as this build will serve as an investment property in the future. #longtermgoals It was important for Kirsty to be in an established estate like Piara Waters that offers plenty of local amenities as this build will serve as an investment property in the future. #longtermgoals

Welcome to My Crib!

Kirsty has scored a 300sqm block with a 15m frontage, that’s a lot of house. From the extensive range of homes designs that Commodore Homes offers in Perth, she has selected The Yokine home design. She has selected The Yokine home design from the extensive range from Commodore Homes. It includes a 4×2 with a scullery to hide all the dirty dishes and an impressive dining/living area, did someone say house party! Kirsty and Ash worked together to include a double vanity in the ensuite, extend the kitchen bench for future grazing boards and added a double pantry and splashback window in the scullery. Kirsty has also chosen the Commodore Homes Complete Package Inclusions to place the finishing touch to her home, perfecto!

Breaking the Bank Vs. Budgeting

Kirsty said “I have been very conscience of budget, Ash has helped to add significant floorplan changes to satisfy my crazy millennial demands within my budget, plus put aside an allowance for Pre-start to upgrade to fancy black fittings” #winning. Kirsty says “I couldn’t have done this without the guidance of Ash, he has been very patient and has made change after change to accommodate my indecisiveness”.

Behind the Scenes

Kirsty has been lucky enough to watch her job travel through our back-end systems and has viewed her 3D working drawings with inhouse Drafting and Design Coordinator Matt Nickels. “It has been amazing to experience the behind the scenes work of my build and viewing everything through the lens of a client, this has provided me with another perspective to my job” says Kirsty.

To Upgrade Or Not?

Kirsty is now awaiting her anticipated Pre-Start appointment where she will make her internal and external selections including flooring, paving, kitchen colours etc. Kirsty says “I have navigated through the Commodore Online Portal to make selections and utilised the QR Code feature in the showroom to double check all selections and upgrade a few”. The Commodore showroom at BGC Home provides clients an interactive experience to view all products under one roof, plus there’s a complimentary coffee for clients on entry!

In true marketing fashion, Kirsty has created a home building Instagram to share her journey. Follow her build page @kirstys_krib. You might just be inspired to build your very own dream home.
